Join Texans for the Arts (TFA) in 2024 for an internship experience that goes beyond the ordinary. We're looking for dynamic individuals to be part of our team, contributing to the intersection of creative industries and the political world to secure public resources for the arts.

  • At TFA, we believe in the power of internships to shape careers. As an intern, you'll not only extend our reach and impact but also gain hands-on experience in non-profit arts administration, advocacy, and community outreach. Working closely with our team, you'll have the opportunity to develop valuable skills in event coordination, public policy, and digital marketing.

  • Flexible Engagement: 10-15+ hours per week, tailored around your academic and work commitments.

    Virtual Collaboration: While based in Texas, our work is mainly conducted virtually, allowing long-distance applicants to thrive in our dynamic environment.

  • Texans for the Arts provides compensation for our internships based on the position and the time commitment agreed upon during the onboarding process.

  • Texans for the Arts will support any intern seeking academic credit for their time as an intern and will process any required paperwork, as needed.

Our Openings

  • Non-Profit Operations, Management Training:

    Key Responsibilities:

    Collaborate with senior leadership on impactful, long-term projects.

    Contribute to the development and execution of Texas Arts Advocacy Day during legislative sessions.

    Assist in setting up legislative office visits for participants during Texas Arts Advocacy Day.

    Update and evaluate online advocacy resources for sustained local efforts.

    Participate in the management of communication and legislative visits for National Arts Action Summit.

    Prepare materials for Arts Funding & Leadership Development workshops.

    Research and write grants, identifying and following leads on prospective donors and members.

    Conduct research and organize/update information about members, legislative districts, and relevant subject areas.

    Qualifications:

    Passion for the arts and community access to the arts and culture.

    Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in fields such as Public Policy, Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Political Science, and/or Government Relations.

    Familiarity with local, state, and federal politics.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Proficiency in Google Drive applications and Excel.

    Reliable, communicative, organized, and possess a positive attitude.

  • Strategic Communications and Digital Media:

    Key Responsibilities:

    Execute digital marketing strategies for Texans for the Arts.

    Collaborate with social media presence, ensuring consistent and engaging content.

    Engage with the website, user activity, and database management.

    Create digital marketing materials and design infographics (content creation)

    Promote awareness about TFA and the importance of public resources for the arts.

    Explore AI and develop videos to enhance communication strategies.

    Collaborate with the team to ensure a cohesive and effective communication plan.

    Qualifications:

    Passion for the arts and community access to the arts and culture.

    Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Design or a related field.

    Familiarity with social media platforms (Meta, X, LinkedIn, Tik Tok) and basic web development.

    Experience or interest in AI and video technology for content creation.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Proficiency in Google Drive applications and Excel.

    Reliable, communicative, organized, and possess a positive attitude.
